Yet there are those among us who dare to learn more about our minds quaint but fascinating ways. Some might think that the human brain may be of curiosity to only medical professionals and scientists, but talents all across the spectrum of art explore this daunting yet beautiful creation. Whether these are painters, sculptors, musicians, writers, dancers or any other profession; throughout history these geniuses have dared to venture into the indefinite. Wenny B is an Indonesian artist residing in Singapore. She specializes in the art of quirky painting, mainly following current art trends like surrealism, conceptual art, hyper realism and real art. Surrealism is best known for its visual artworks, writings and the juxtaposition of uncommon imagery. Artists paint unnerving, illogical scenes, sometimes with photographic precision, creating strange creatures from everyday objects and developing painting techniques that allow the unconscious to express itself. Wenny’s main aim behind her artwork is to emphasize on the message of ‘Looking beneath the Surface’. She echoes on the reality of how everything is not how it seems on the surface through her artwork and how we need to dig deep and ugly to truly find the exquisite side of our existence. The building of one’s career is a tiresome and overwhelming journey for any individual. She tells us how she overcame these challenges with passion, devotion and a never giving up attitude. At the same time she makes sure to keep reaching out for new ideas and inspirations. Overcoming hurdles in her professional life gives her an immeasurable sense of pride. During this grave time of a pandemic where we need any string of hope to hold onto, she has initiated a 100 day challenge to cheer the world up with her quirky paintings. Her key message to other artists is to never stop making art. She believes a world without art is a world without meaning. This stands to be very true since art of any form reflects our perceptions and views of the world. To stop these reflections would be the killing of the human spirit and imagination. In her view it’s very important for students to keep exploring their artistic skills as it widens one's creativity and brings positivity into our lives. Wenny’s greatest inspiration is Walt Disney. He once said, "If you can dream it, you can do it. Always remember, this whole thing was started with a dream and a mouse." He is an inspiration for anyone who dreams of creating something great out of something that might seem so ordinary and insignificant. The major idols in her craft and work are Hieronymus Bosch, M.C. Escher, Salvador Dali. These are some of the prodigious artists who reflected the concepts of real life issues and the boundless elements of life that go unnoticed by us. Even though they struggled with troubled minds of their own, they didn’t stop to mirror these thoughts and their marvels of the odd into their artwork. Art reminds us of the essence of our world that we tend to forget while hustling in our daily lives. Nature’s gifts are often buried away and go unnoticed by us. Artists bring out the colorful hue and appreciation of our surroundings to our notice, reminding us of our mortality and yet the beauty of our creation. They breathe life onto a canvas and always enchant us with their unique perception of the world. Thea Ong Po is one such artist hailing from the Philippines; her works know no bounds to the limits of artistry. She specializes in floral paintings, landscapes and botanical paintings. Currently she is into exploring skyscapes and urban scapes paintings. She is always humbled and constantly learning through her experiences. Apart from exploring and creating her own art, she conducts art workshops to spread her knowledge and skills of art. She believes the dexterity of art can be possessed by anybody and so her students range from kids to adults. She aims at sharing her passion of artwork and watercolor painting through these teaching lessons. Her father and brother have had an enormous and special impact on her passion. They were the steppingstones for her who persistently gave their inputs for her to improve and discover her talents. Any artist would love to see the kind of impact they can have on another person's life and art. Likewise for Thea, seeing her students come up with something that incorporates her teachings gives her immense pride. During these severe times of a pandemic, frontline healthcare workers face many adversities and are fighting for people's lives every day. Leaving behind and risking their own and family's lives can be very strenuous on their physical and mental state as well. Thea along with her artistic community has sent out her artworks and art messages to the front liners and Covid patients as well using the hashtag #touchlivesthroughart. This sent across a ripple of positivity and motivation among doctors, nurses and patients. Her main message to other artists out there is to keep on painting. Even if they face obstacles and feel the need to stop, they can take rest but must keep going on after that. The renowned artist, Henri Matisse’s quote beautifully integrated her message, “Creativity takes courage”. For her it is very important for students to express their feelings and emotions through art. Art gives people a chance to share their imagination and ideas. As long as an individual is content and responsible with their artwork, she encourages them to continue drawing, painting and creating what their soul and mind chases. The greatest inspiration behind her work is her father, Jose Ong. He is an artist specializing in sculpture. She takes great pride and honor in being his daughter and he has always been a source of inspiration to her. Few of the great artists she idolizes are Jenna Rainey, the late Qing Han (qinniart), Louise De Masi, JC Vargas and Stan Miller. Her artwork and the ambiance of it is a reminder to all of us to take a break from the superficial aspects of our lives and truly enjoy nature’s bounties. It is our latest edition of an online joyride in which we have prepared a thrilling and artsy exhibition and competition calling for students up-to 18-years of age. All the themes of this event revolves around the beauty of our surroundings and the astounding captivity of nature’s gifts. Times where we’re isolated from our environment and stuck between the concrete walls of our homes, it is going to be a refreshing journey for students to explore their creative sides through Mother Earth’s essence and a moment to reminisce those memories strung to Earth. The first category is for students up till the age of seven, their theme being ‘Planet Earth’. The second category will feature students from the ages 8 to 13 and the theme designated to them is ‘The Beautiful Nature’. Our third category is for students between the ages of 14 to 18, to enlighten their thoughts and vision the theme assigned to them is ‘The Future I Visualize’, which is also apt to their growing and flourishing age niche into young adults. Nina Hidalgo is a Filipino artist based in the Philippines, where the diverse culture and traditions of the land influence the art. Nina Hidalgo specialized in miniature painting. This is a traditional form of art rich in history and cultural elements with intricate details as a highlight. She follows other art trends like portraitures and landscapes. She is constantly trying to capture the message of ‘Even small matters’ through her artwork. An artist becomes successful when he or she can create absorbing and adroit art.
